Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a timed event?

Absolutely! We time and score the 5K event. The Great Cow Race is not timed or scored.

Where do I go if I lose something or someone?

If you have lost your parties and belongings, stop by the Registration Tent.

Is there a time limit on the 5K race?

Racers in the 5K race need to complete the race in 1.5 hours.

What athlete support do you offer?

Water stations are along the race course.

Is there a First Aid Station?

But, of course!  Visit the ambulance on the west side of the park.

Can I wear headphones?

We know the right tunes can be the best motivation. We ask that you keep it to a safe volume when on the race course – you should be able to hear people approaching and race officials.

Are baby joggers allowed?

You betcha! Just be sure you line up with your stroller or baby jogger at the back of the starting area to avoid injury and help manage traffic flow. Kids in strollers ride free.

Is childcare provided?

Absolutely! We hope everyone has the opportunity to run in this event so we’ve arranged for childcare to be provided by A Rainbow of Friends Christian School and Valley Christian School. Children 2-8 years old will be supervised in a fenced-in area at John Metcalfe Park from 7:00-9:30am on race day. A $10 donation is suggested. Children can be registered on-site.

Can my dog come to the event?

Due to the high volume of runners and spectators, we ask that you leave Fido at home.

We love dogs, too, but for the safety of all participants, only people are allowed on the racecourse. For your pet’s safety and comfort, we recommend leaving them at home.

What about in-line skates, bikes or skateboards

Wheels, runners and crowds don’t blend well.  The Chick-fil-A® Family 5K is a running event, and insurance restrictions require us to exclude these from the event. We ask that you adhere to this request in order to avoid injury and help manage traffic flow.

What is The Great Cow Race?

Kids ages 8 and under will test their stamina at The Great Cow Race, a 1-mile fun run. Participants are encouraged to dress like a cow for this event. This is a free, non-competitive event but all participants must register and sign a waiver either by walk-in registration at Chick-fil-A Fountain or on the day of the race.

What is Community Fest?

Community Fest is the after-party of the Chick-fil-A Family 5K which is hosted by Cross Creek Church. It is a free family event located at John Metcalfe Park immediately following the race. Guests will enjoy free food, snow cones, bounce houses, music, vendors and more!

What else is Chick-fil-A® doing to celebrate the anniversary of their Grand Opening?

In addition to the festivities at the Chick-fil-A® Family 5K, Chick-fil-A Fountain will be offering a free Chick-fil-A® entree to the first 100 people who bring their race bib to the restaurant following the race on Saturday morning.

Oh no, something came up!  Can I get a refund?

Race registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. We know that life happens and plans can change.  However, pre-event costs mandate this uniform policy. Be sure to have a buddy swing by Chick-fil-A Fountain during packet pick-up to receive your spiffy shirt!
